Thursday Tea To Go* is providing hot takeaway meals free of charge every Thursday from Acomb Methodist Church. From 3pm a team of local volunteers will be preparing meals, for people to collect between 6 and 7pm.
Need a meal?
We are supporting individuals and family struggling with the cost of living crisis and mental health. If you need a hot meal this week, text menu to 07454893154 to find out what we are cooking. Meals can then be collected between 6 and 7:00 p.m. from AMC.
Want to volunteer?
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the cooking and distribution of 40 meals each week.
Our chef and sous-chefs meet at 3.30 and prepare and cook a nutritious and tasty meal. Hosts arrive at 5.30 to welcome customers, make a cuppa and have a chat with them. We are all finished and tidied away by 7.15.
We are a diverse and welcoming team with some members volunteering weekly and other helping once every few months. We offer full training, a flexible rota system and a warm welcome. Volunteering with us is a rewarding experience: we know we are making a positive difference to the lives of our customers and that members of the team enjoy working with us.

In order to meet demand and provide this service 52 weeks a year, we rely on donations. Just £2.50 a week can provide a hot meal for a member of our community. Why not set up a direct debit to permanently sponsor one of our customers?
