Sunday Worship (Easter Sunday All Age)

March 31 @ 10:30 am 11:30 am BST

Our Sunday worship is in-person, although we now also offer the opportunity for everyone to join us interactively on Zoom, and occasionally we broadcast a livestream to YouTube.

This Sunday we celebrate Easter, with an All Age Worship led by our Minister Rev Andy

Our worship, varies through the month, from an All Age, family friendly time of worship, through to contemporary worship with modern songs, and more traditional worship, including a monthly Holy Communion. Once a month we also have a Zoom bible study, running in parallel, which is a more interactive, discussion led time.

We have a range of preachers, from our own ministers, visiting and home-grown local preachers and congregation members. We use modern technology such as YouTube clips, video and music either played live, or streamed, so we are no limited in styles.

Occasionally we link up digitally with another church, for someone leading from elsewhere, to link in with a charity partner, or one of our sister churches.

Following the service we linger for coffee, and when the right people are on duty, even a cappuccino. We have a room where you can chat with those joining us digitally afterwards, so nobody is left out.

We welcome families and children, and alongside the Sunday services, we offer a variety of activities which when not joining us for the main service are tailored for them. This includes Godly Play, which is an interactive story telling time, followed by a free creative response.

Early mornings we also host Northumbrian morning prayer at 9:15 (see seperate event) which is a much quieter and simpler prayer time.

If you wish to join us online you will need a Zoom account (free) on a suitable device, ideally with a camera and microphone. You’ll need to either click the following link, or on some devices – select join meeting and type in the number and password.

(Easter) Northumbrian Morning Prayer with Communion

March 31 @ 9:15 am 9:45 am BST

Every Sunday morning at 9:15am, a small number of us meet for a simple prayer meeting, lasting around 30 mins and using the Northumbrian Prayer liturgy and readings for that day. The prayer time follows a simple pattern each time:-

It begins with some short pre-prepared, opening prayers, followed by three very short scripture readings for the day, and the meditation for that day. Following this we have a time of open prayer, and then conclude with some remaining written prayers. We take it in turns to lead the morning.

On this Easter Sunday morning, we will also share a very simple communion, and following the service some hot cross buns and a drink.

Adult & Family Board Game Afternoons

October 1, 2023 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm BST

Download a Printable Flyer

Board Game Afternoons are for adults and families who enjoy board games – and by that we mean not just the traditional Scrabble and Monopoly, but also the newer more complex board games like Carcassone, Wingspan and Ticket to Ride – and well much newer still…the list goes on and on.

WHAT FORM WILL IT TAKE?

We meet in Room 5 within Acomb Methodist church. The afternoons run from 4:00-6:00pm, which gives us plenty of time to play a very intensive game, or several smaller games. Those attending take turns to bring cake and biscuits and we serve hot and cold drinks throughout.

CAN ANYONE JOIN?

The majority of our board games are aimed at adults, and children seven and above, although if families wish to bring younger children that is okay, as long as they supervise them. We have a mixture of pretty complex games, and relatively straightforward, short games, suitable for most ages.

HOW MUCH IS IT?

We are aiming to make a small donation to the church for the use of the room, and ideally have a surplus over and above this to supply hot drinks and to purchase new games. A freewill offering will be taken with this in mind.

SO I NEED TO BRING A BOARD GAME?

We’ve accumulated a good number of games, but if you have a favourite, however, feel free to bring it along. Please bear in mind our time constraints. If there is a game you think we should purchase, let us know, and when we have some money we’ll aim to do so.

CONTACT US

As we mentioned, it would be really helpful if you could let us know you are coming, so we can cater appropriately. To do so, or for other queries, please contact Andy on (01904)784545 or email using the contact form.

£2 Suggested donation £2 for adults 50p for children (free for under 7's)
